lyrics

How much would you pay for a broken-down derelict, stripped of everything valuable and given the flick
Open to the elements, exposed to the weather, the rust is the only thing that’s holding it together
But it’s got four wheels and the motor’s still running, it’ll get ya from A to B although the pace is hardly stunning
It’s not a used car, I’m just using an analogy, a simile to simply tell you all about me,
How I’m brand new, second-hand
I might look shiny by the bright light of day, but I’ll look a little different once the polish wears away
And you’ll forget what you saw in me, or why you were hoarding me, so instead of adoring me you’ll end up in deploring me
I’ve been around the block, too many miles on the clock, but best believe I’m not the only wreck on the lot
There’s plenty of other suckers who are down-on-their-luckers, I only hope I’m sold before those other motherfuckers
I start to shiver just a little (when you ask me to deliver) ‘cos I don’t come with a guarantee
I think it’d be amazing (if I rise to the occasion) but it isn’t quite a certainty
You came into this with eyes wide open, knowing what you’re in for, I’m not joking
Don’t expect your money back if I don’t get it up to scratch, I’ll do my best to satisfy and that is a fact
But let’s accept this premise ‘cos this gift horse is a menace, look him in the mouth and realise it’s all been an act
So pile up the waste right (somebody’ll come overnight), to take it all away to get it out of your sight
One woman’s trash (is another one’s treasure), I’m just glad that we had a little time to spend together
And soon they’ll come collect me so that you can forget me, I’ll be waiting at the junkyard for somebody else to get me
Cos my life’s not over, just my usefulness to you, and soon you’ll find another nut that’s needing a screw
